Our inspiration comes from work.
Maurício Marcelli is a civil engineer who graduated in 1975 from the Escola de Engenharia da Universidade Mackenzie, who began his professional career as a designer and for 15 years, he was an estimator for pre-stressed reinforced concrete, metal and wooden structures, developing numerous projects, including civil engineering works and roads.
He worked for 10 years at CONESP (Construções Escolares do Estado de São Paulo) as a projects and works coordinator. During this time, he had the opportunity to deal with numerous problems related to design errors and errors executing works. Later, he worked in the construction business, carrying out several works of all types, including the adaptation and extension of old buildings, which were originally designed for residential use and over time have been transformed into various uses.
Since 2000, he has worked as a civil engineering consultant and expert for insurance companies, actively participating in numerous claims for fires, gales, landslides and flooding, among others. An activity that has provided a rich source of experience with numerous and varied catastrophic situations in engineering, stimulating the need to identify causes in order to point out solutions with optimized technical and economic performance.
He wrote the book “Sinistros na Construção Civil” (Civil Construction Claims), a publication designed for all professionals who are somehow involved with projects, carrying out civil construction works, renovations, restorations, technical expertise and loss adjustments. In a simple and straightforward manner, the book covers situations that may cause several types of damage to civil construction arising from errors in designs, execution, supervision and maintenance of the works and buildings. It is considered by many as one of the best tools for Engineers, Architects, Technologists, Experts and Loss Adjusters, providing important technical support for preventive or corrective action.
